Scenarios

Overview

Scenarios are WAR’s version of Battlegrounds. In order to enter a Scenario you have to click the little round thing on your Mini-Map and join the queue. Each scenario is different and there are usually 3 or 4 per bracket till 40, then you have a ton more that you can participate in. Each scenario has a different game type that is played in it ranging from Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, Death-match and War ball.

Capture The Flag : The object is simple, grab the enemies flag and bring it back to your base to capture it. Your flag must be at your base in order to capture the enemies flag. When you capture your enemies flag you’ll gain Victory Points, if you get enough Victory Points you will win the scenario.

Control Point: Control Point involves capturing any or all of the three flags on the map and holding them to accumulate points. Note that not every flag gives the same amount of points on capture, nor do they all give the same amount of points over time. To capture these flags, simply stand next to them.

Death-match: is the most common game type played. The object is beyond simplistic. Kill your enemy. The team with the most kills or points at the end wins.

Domination: is a “Capture and Hold” game type. The objective is to capture and hold a base or flag for a period of time. When you capture the point sometimes it may reward Victory Points, but for certain when you hold the point it will award Victory Points. Sometimes in Domination after a certain amount of time the objective will become neutral and will be capturable again. If your team held it for this whole duration you’ll be awarded extra points.

Domination is the most common game type in Warhammer and is fairly basic once you grasp the concept.

King of the Hill: is also self explanatory. One team holds a base and the other team tries to take it back. The team holding the base will generate Victory Points every tick.

Tug of War: RoR’s Tug of War scenarios involve a constant push/pull from both realms as they continually hold, push, or fall back from the five flags on the map.

Objective Control: Objective Control involves one or three players holding a bauble to accumulate points as they control the object(s). The object(s) will damage the player(s) in increasingly higher burst damage over time, ultimately killing the player(s) unless the scenario ends first.

Scenario Rules

In every scenario, the first team to reach 500 points wins. Each Scenario can last up to 15 minutes.

Points are awarded for various objectives, and vary by scenario. Killing enemy players, capturing control points, running flags, and holding special items are all examples of mechanics you’ll encounter in Scenarios.

Once the scenario is over, you’ll receive bonus Experience, Renown, and War Crests based on your team’s score. The higher your score, the bigger the bonus!

Scenario Tiers

Scenarios are divided by Tiers in order to balance the playing field of your opponents. Those tiers are:

You can join scenarios solo, or with friends in premade groups.
  • T1: Level 1-15
  • T2/3: Level 16-39
  • T4: Level 40+

Due to level variance, it’s very natural to feel overwhelmed if facing an enemy team of much higher levels. This will improve as you rise the ranks, and is likewise balanced in part by an automatic bolster the server provides, which raises your level temporarily within the scenario.*

*Note: There is currently a bug that removes your bolster if you level up during a Scenario. This is being investigated by the team.

Performance Bonuses

The top players from each faction in a Scenario are also given Performance Bonuses.

By earning Top Damage, Healing, Protection, Death Blows, or Objective score, you can earn a bonus War Crest and bonus Renown. You can stack multiple performance bonuses by taking the top score for multiple categories.

War Crest Payout

The amount of War Crests you’ll earn per scenario is tied directly to your team’s Score, and the Tier you’re playing in.

  • Each player will always receive at least 1 War Crest, and an additional War Crest for every 100 points earned.
  • Winning a Scenario will grant at least six War Crests to the victorious side, alongside any performance bonuses.
  • Winning in T2-3 will grant 8 War Crests to the winning side, and T4 will grant 10 War Crests for victory.

Scenario Populations

The maximum population for each scenario is different. A few cap at 6 players per team, most allow 12, and some go all the way to 18+.

Additionally, if players from one faction decline to enter a scenario and the population is stacked too heavily to one side, the scenario will automatically shut down due to imbalance after 60 seconds.

Joining or forming a Premade

While the system will attempt to balance parties, it’s very likely you’ll eventually be placed in scenarios with less-than-optimal team compositions, e.g.: no healer for your team.

One of the best ways to counter this is to form or join a premade party via the in-game LFG Channel. (By default, /5)

The most common party composition for premade teams is 2-2-2: 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 2 dps. However, you can adjust or change this however you’d like, and queue with a maximum of 6 people as a party.

As with any competitive game, coordination and teamwork go a long way towards securing victory!

Weekend Warfronts

Almost every weekend, players can take part in a special Weekend Warfront. These scenarios feature 50% bonus XP and Renown, and additional tasks listed in your Tome of Knowledge that will grant bonus rewards.

The bonus rewards granted for Weekend Warfronts include Renown Pots(Potion of Acclaim), War Crests, crafting items, and special limited-time Event Slot items that will grant your character additional stats.

Discordant Skirmishes

Players who queue Solo can queue for Discordant Skirmishes, special Scenarios that are also known as PUG Scenarios. Full premades or large organized groups are not allowed to queue for these.

In Discordant Skirmishes, the battlefield where the Scenario takes place will be randomly selected from a number of different Scenarios.

Tip: If possible, coordinate and balance your parties as much as possible when playing in Discordant Skirmishes by ensuring each group has healers, tanks, and DPS to support each other. Hit the white flag button on your minimap to leave and join parties.

Ranked Scenarios

Earn special Triumphant currencies by participating in Ranked Scenarios.

Players looking for more than just a casual dip into the arena can participate in Ranked Scenarios, which feature a unique ruleset and an exclusive currency and rewards. These are the only way to earn Triumphant Insiginias. You can also now use War Crests to buy Triumphant and Victorious sets.

You can queue for Ranked Scenarios, see the top players, and view your progress towards rewards by clicking the small Ranked Leaderboard emblem on your screen.

  • Ranked Scenarios are always 6v6 matches.
  • To queue for a Ranked Scenario, you must be level 40, equipped with an average item level of 52, and have Talismans slotted into all available pieces of gear.
  • In Ranked Scenarios, it’s possible to have players from both Order and Destruction on the same team.
  • Player Kills are worth considerably more points in Ranked Scenarios, awarding 50 per kill.
  • If a team interacts, uninterrupted, on the flag in the middle for 60 seconds, they will automatically win the match. This can only be done if nobody is in combat.
  • Ranked Scenarios are not always available. When new Ranked Seasons begin, they will be listed in an update’s Patch Notes.
