Overview of the Left Wing
The Left Wing of Mount Gunbad features four primary boss encounters and two optional bosses. When all mechanics are fully functional, this wing is widely considered the most challenging in the entire dungeon, primarily due to the complexity of its final boss. However, as of the time of this writing (July 2025), certain mechanics for the final boss may be bugged, potentially simplifying the encounter into a more straightforward “tank-and-spank” fight.
To begin your journey through the Left Wing, head left from the dungeon’s main entrance and cross the bridge. Clear the initial groups of adds until you reach the first large room. From there, take an immediate left and proceed towards the Healer NPC. A small drop-off behind this NPC allows for careful descent, enabling your group to bypass several mob packs. Clear the remaining nearby mobs, and you will find the first boss just ahead.
Boss 1: Griblik Da Stinka
Griblik Da Stinka is a dual-boss encounter. Your party has several strategic options for managing this fight, depending on your group’s composition, gear level, and preferred playstyle. There is no single “correct” approach; flexibility is key.
- Solo Tanking: A single, well-geared tank can pull and hold aggro on both bosses simultaneously.
- Off-Tanking: An off-tank can pull and manage the Wyvern boss, keeping it separated from Griblik.
- Sturdy DPS/Healer Off-Tanking: A particularly resilient DPS or healer can kite and manage the Wyvern boss, keeping it away from Griblik.
Key Mechanics:
- Primary Target – Griblik: Prioritize eliminating Griblik, the Squig boss, first. Once Griblik is defeated, you have the option to either finish off the Wyvern or, if desired, simply run past it towards the next boss, at which point the Wyvern will leash (reset) due to distance.
- Wyvern Eggs (AoE Avoidance): The Wyvern boss will periodically spawn Eggs. It is crucial to avoid using AoE damage or direct attacks on these eggs. If damaged, the eggs will hatch, spawning multiple baby champion Wyverns that will aggressively engage your party, significantly increasing incoming damage and potentially overwhelming the group.
- Cooldown Manipulation and Aerial Pull: Players will experience a constant increase in their cooldowns throughout this fight. Additionally, players will be periodically pulled into the air. Be prepared for these disruptions and save critical defensive cooldowns (e.g., Tank’s Shield Wall, Healer’s Morale 3 absorb) for moments of high incoming damage.
- Loot: Gold bags from the Griblik encounter have a chance to drop Redeye Gloves and Boots.
Boss 2: Bilebane the Rager (Optional)
Bilebane the Rager is technically an optional boss, but nearly every group chooses to defeat him due to his strategic positioning directly en route to the next mandatory encounter.
Key Mechanics:
- Tank Positioning: The tank should position Bilebane facing away from the group to mitigate frontal cleave damage.
- Interruptible Attack: When Bilebane raises his arms, he is casting a powerful attack that deals significant damage and knocks back allies. Tanks must use Taunt, or any available interrupt, to prevent this ability.
- Burst Damage: Be prepared for sudden bursts of damage, particularly on the tank and any melee DPS. Healers should be ready to quickly respond with burst healing.
- Loot: Bilebane the Rager drops Gunbad Jewelry, with a chance for rare purple variants.
Boss 3: Garrolath the Poxbearer
Garrolath the Poxbearer is the third boss in the Left Wing, a relatively straightforward encounter once basic positioning is understood. Before initiating the fight, ensure all adds within the room are cleared to provide ample space for maneuvering.
Key Mechanics:
- Knockback Positioning: The boss performs powerful knockbacks. The tank should position Garrolath with their back to a wall or the waterfall to prevent themselves and melee DPS from being flung too far, which can break line-of-sight for healers or pull additional enemies.
- Nurgling Summons and Healing: Garrolath will summon Nurgling Champions. It is critical that these Nurglings are pulled away from the boss. If a Nurgling and Garrolath remain in close proximity, the boss will begin to heal significantly, prolonging the fight and increasing difficulty. An off-tank, sturdy healer, or DPS should be assigned to managing these adds.
- Loot: Gold bags from Garrolath the Poxbearer have a chance to drop Redeye Gloves and Boots.
Boss 4: Kurga Da Squig Maker (Optional)
Kurga Da Squig Maker is an optional goblin boss found near the top of a hill further into the dungeon.
Key Mechanics:
- AoE Damage: Kurga can deal massive AoE damage to players in melee and mid-range. Healers should position themselves at maximum possible distance from the boss to minimize incoming damage.
- DPS Detaunt (Self-Preservation): DPS players experiencing high incoming damage can use a detaunt ability to momentarily drop aggro, reducing stress on healers.
- Tank Shatter: When the boss exclaims, “Feel muh shroom powered anger!” or a similar phrase, tanks must shatter his enchantment to significantly reduce the damage of his upcoming attack.
- Healer Anticipation: The party’s health can fluctuate rapidly, dropping from full to 10% in moments, especially if there are many melee players or if the shatter is missed. Healers must anticipate these burst damage phases and be ready with strong healing cooldowns.
- Resurrection Enabled: Unlike some other boss fights in Gunbad, players can be resurrected during the Kurga Da Squig Maker encounter.
- Loot: This boss drops additional Gunbad Jewelry.
Boss 5: Foul Mouf Da Ungry
Foul Mouf Da Ungry, a large Squig boss, stands as the penultimate challenge before the Left Wing’s final encounter. This fight is partially a DPS race.
Key Mechanics:
- Tank Positioning: The tank should position Foul Mouf with their back to the small cave pillars near the boss.
- Damage Mitigation (Tank Focus): Tanks should prioritize maximizing their damage mitigation (Block/Parry) to reduce the strain on healers, as combined boss and add damage can be substantial.
- Champion Adds: The boss periodically spawns champion adds that hit very hard. Groups have several options for managing these:
- AoE DPS: Use AoE abilities to quickly eliminate the adds alongside the boss.
- Single-Target Focus: Prioritize single-targeting down the adds.
- Ignore (Tank dependent): If the tank is exceptionally well-geared, groups can attempt to ignore the adds and solely focus damage on the boss. This strategy carries high risk if the tank is not sufficiently durable.
- Tank Challenge (Add Management): If using an AoE strategy or if DPS inadvertently pulls aggro on adds, tanks should have their “Challenge” ability ready to quickly pick up all the adds.
- Healer Cleansing (Optional): Certain healing classes possess abilities that can cleanse the debuff responsible for spawning the champion maggot adds, which can reduce the number of adds the group needs to manage.
- Burst Healing (Tank Focus): If solo tanking, especially with an undergeared tank, healers must be prepared for sudden, massive spikes of damage as the tank is hit by both boss and add attacks simultaneously.
The longer the fight against Foul Mouf progresses, the more adds will spawn, eventually overwhelming the party with incoming damage. Therefore, maintaining consistent damage output on the boss is crucial. After Foul Mouf is defeated, the remaining adds should quickly succumb to AoE damage.
- Loot: Gold bags from Foul Mouf Da Ungry have a chance to drop Redeye Gloves and Boots.
Boss 6: Glomp Da Squig Masta
Glomp Da Squig Masta is notorious for ending countless Gunbad runs. When all mechanics are fully functional, this boss demands constant attention, high group awareness, and a degree of luck.
Before starting this fight, it is highly recommended to set your graphics settings to HIGH and effects to “Show All.” Failure to do so may prevent you from seeing the critical Green Puddle mechanic, which is essential if it is functioning correctly. If the puddle mechanic is bugged, the fight can be simplified into a basic tank-and-spank.
Phase 1: Squig Master Form (100% – 30% HP)
Key Mechanics:
- Gas Cloud & Green Puddles: The boss spawns a Gas Cloud (the visual marker for an impending Green Puddle) followed by a Green Puddle directly underneath it. Stepping into these Green Puddles deals immense damage and will quickly lead to death. Players cannot be revived during this fight (due to Terror).
- Tank Movement (Puddle Kiting): The tank must continuously move Glomp in a large circle around the room to prevent the Green Puddles from stacking up in one area. By the time a full loop is completed, earlier puddles should have reset. This mechanic is bypassed if the puddle mechanic is bugged, allowing the tank to hold the boss in a static position.
- Healer Positioning: Most healers position themselves on the elevated platform where the boss initially spawns to maintain full line-of-sight across the room. However, they must still be vigilant, as Green Puddles can spawn in their location.
- Aggro Drops and Taunt Swapping: Glomp will randomly drop aggro on the tank and target another party member, announcing their name in a chat bubble. The tank must constantly taunt, build threat, and be prepared to Guard-swap to keep the boss focused on them and protect vulnerable teammates.
- Random Player Punt: Glomp will randomly punt one player across the room. If this targets a tank or healer, it can be dangerous. Affected players must quickly move back to the group while actively avoiding any Green Puddles on their path.
- Squig Summons: At 90%, 60%, and 40% HP, Glomp will summon waves of Squigs. The tank must Challenge these adds immediately, and DPS should AoE them down quickly to prevent them from overwhelming the party.
- Terror: This entire boss fight inflicts Terror, meaning that any player who dies cannot be resurrected until the encounter is completed.
Phase 2: Squig Armor Form (30% HP to 0%)
At 30% health, Glomp will transition by hopping into his Squig Armor, initiating the second phase.
Key Mechanics:
- Player Chase: Glomp will begin to chase a single player around the room.
- Spread Out: During this phase, the party should spread out to minimize the impact of Glomp’s next ability.
- “Runnin’ outta room yet, Gitgob?” (Stomp): When Glomp utters this phrase, quickly move away from the boss. He will perform a powerful “stomp” ability that deals massive damage to anyone nearby, with the damage increasing proportionally to the number of targets hit. This stomp can instantly kill almost any player if they are hit more than once.
- DPS Window: After each stomp, there will be a brief window of opportunity to deal damage to Glomp before he initiates his next stomp.
- Pacing: From 30% HP downwards, Glomp poses very little direct damage threat outside of his AoE stomp. The key to success is a slow and steady approach. Take your time, focus on avoiding the stomps, and back off early if you are concerned about dying.
Once Glomp Da Squig Masta is defeated, you have successfully cleared one of Mount Gunbad’s most challenging bosses. Congratulations!
- Loot: Gold bags from Glomp Da Squig Masta have a chance to drop the Redeye Shoulders.
